Drama Youth Worker (THE STREET)
 
Salary: £22,825 pro rata
Salary info: £7826 for 12 hours per week. Fixed Term 2 years.
Status: Part time (You must be available Mon & Thurs evenings).

Location: Larkhall/Hamilton – throughout South Lanarkshire
 
Role:
 
We require a dynamic and driven individual to take up the post of Drama Youth Worker for our acclaimed and award winning project The Street. The Street uses immersive theatre and intensive workshops to raise young people’s awareness and provide consequential learning.
 
Cast & Crew perform live twice weekly from October to March. The post holder will work with them to explore issues they would like to tackle through live performances and delivered to their peers.
 
You will help the Youth Support Worker recruit targeted young people who are hard to engage and may be experiencing multiple challenges in their lives. Your key role will be to enthuse, motivate and train the young people in all things drama related.
 
Your responsibilities will also include development of the set and co-ordination of all required props. We need someone special who can help take the project to the next level with the small staff team.
 
Preferably the successful applicant will have a proven track record in working with young people using drama as a method of making a difference to people’s lives. A strong portfolio is desirable.

The post holder will lead on recruiting targeted young people who are hard to engage and may be experiencing multiple challenges in their lives. You key role will be to provide groupwork and 1:1 support for the young people 14yrs plus recruited to the programme; co-ordninate the small staff team and network with partners. We need someone special who can take the project to the next level.
 
The successful applicant will need a strong proven track record in assisting young people into positive destinations. The person needs to be dedicated to making a difference to young peoples through outcome focused interventions and have a suitable qualification in youth work.
